Master of Engineering (Research)

This course offers students the opportunity to develop specialist interests through a program of supervised research, either theoretical or applied, in a shorter period than the 3-4 years usually required for a PhD degree. MER courses last for between 2 and 4 semesters, i.e. 1-2 years. The program is generally full time, but is also available part-time to Australian residents.

MER students are expected to work individually on advanced study and research under the direction of a supervisor, consulting with him or her regularly about their work and the general planning of your thesis. On completion of candidature all students are required to submit a thesis embodying the results of your work.

Admission

Entry requires the four year Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification from another tertiary institution. You can find out about application procedures and the documents that you will need to supply on the application page.
