Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

PhDs are awarded for theses that are considered to be a substantial original contribution to the subject concerned. PhD students are expected to work individually on advanced study and original research under the direction of a supervisor, consulting with him or her regularly about their work and the general planning of their thesis. On completion of their candidature, which lasts between 6 and 8 semesters or 3-4 years, all PhD students must submit a thesis embodying the results of their work.

Entry requires the four year Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification from another tertiary institution. You can find out about application procedures and the documents that you will need to supply on the application page.
