Programs

Postgraduate Coursework Degrees

Postgraduate coursework degrees aim to meet the professional development needs of engineers and scientists in the private and public sectors of industry, and in private practice. The programs have a multi-disciplinary approach, which, in addition to engineering, involve areas such as management, policy and scientific issues.

Besides the general Master of Engineering coursework degree, the School offers a few coursework specialisation degree options. Please click on the following links for more specific information about these degrees.

Two Year Postgraduate Program Package

Coursework students are able to combine the ME with the Master of Philosophy (MPhil), with the opportunity to upgrade to the PhD.

This means that they can further develop their skills and complete a two (2) year postgraduate program by combining studies in coursework and research. Students who successfully complete a postgraduate coursework degree may proceed to the research degree of Master of Philosophy, and subsequently upgrade to the PhD program.

Alternatively, coursework students may prefer to opt for a coursework only combination of the Master of Engineering and Master of Project Management.

Postgraduate Research Degrees

Research degrees offer students the opportunity to develop specialist interests through a program of supervised research, either theoretical or applied or both. Students are expected to work individually on advanced study and original research under the direction of a supervisor, consulting with him or her regularly about their work and the general planning of their thesis. On completion of candidature, all students are required to submit a thesis embodying the results of work that has substantial original contribution to the subject concerned.
